This summer was officially wedding season, and I was lucky enough to design and letter three different sets of save the dates and invitations. Here's some of the process!

Since graduating in December, I have been busy job hunting, but have also found myself with quite a bit of free time on my hands. I'm trying to make the most of this time by practicing my calligraphy and lettering. I found a great new book, Practical Letter Book by J.H. Kaemmerer, with abundant inspiration. I traced letters throughout the book to practice drawing the word "love" in many different styles. I have also pulled out my calligraphy pen and watercolor brushes to experiment!
After deciding I wanted to design a cookbook focused on Bundt cakes, I did visual research on what books already existed and current cookbook trends. I then put together a moodboard from that information. I decided I wanted to do my own brush lettering to replace the brush typeface.
After deciding I wanted to redesign a series of book covers, I was left with the difficult choice of which books?! I ended up choosing three of my favorite childhood books: Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess, and The Secret Garden. To begin, I gathered images of existing covers. I noticed most of the covers were an illustration/painting/photograph of a young girl. I knew I needed to do something different, so I wrote a list of imagery and important moments from each of the books. Next, I created moodboards of three different visual directions. I decided that the cut paper direction would be different than any of the existing covers I had seen, and would be a fun challenge.
For my branding class I had to create an imaginary company; I chose an airline—Destination Air. Here are photos of my process for designing the logo: Final:
